The Beginning
Alenka Mali is a 24-year-old athlete who moved to Squamish from Slovenia and combined her passions for snowboarding and base jumping. In the winter of 2024, she accomplished a big goal of successfully landing a snowboard BASE jump in Squamish, BC. This film captures her determination, the challenges she overcame, and the deep personal connections that drive her to follow her dreams.

What It Takes: Expedition Unfiltered – All Women Snowboard Film
Three women venture from BC to Patagonia to explore what’s possible, only to be met with harsh conditions, unexpected challenges, and their own limits.

Drawn by wild landscapes and the promise of exploration, the expedition begins with excitement and ambition, but Patagonia has other plans. As unpredictable weather, logistical breakdowns, physical exhaustion, and self-doubt set in, the journey quickly becomes less about the destination and more about resilience.

Stripped of comfort, certainty, and control, the women are forced to confront fear, ego, and the unspoken expectations placed on themselves and each other. What It Takes peels back the polished image of adventure to reveal the emotional and mental reality behind expeditions.
